Letters About Literature 2010

Featuring the 2010 Letters About Literature winners and Keynote Mark Peter Hughes, author of Lemonade Mouth
Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Providence Public Library
7 pm – 8:30 pm; Free and open to the public
The three state winners of the 2010 Letters About Literature contest will read their award-winning letters to the members of the RI Center for the Book and receive their awards. Author Mark Peter Hughes will deliver the keynote: Brace Yourself and Don't Drop Your Lemonade! Disney Is Turning My Movie into a Musical! A Writer's Journey.

Letters About Literature 2010 Update
Grace Miner of East Greenwich has taken top honors for Level 1 (grades 4 – 6) in this year’s writing contest. Victoria D’Agostino of Scituate and Emilie Solomon of Little Compton are the recipients of top honors for Levels 2 (grades 7 & 8) and Level 3 (grades 9 – 12). Honorable Mention awards will be given to Bryce Lico of North Kingstown, David Jarret and Madison Smith of Barrington, and the town of Portsmouth swept the top honors for Level 3, with Rachel Yates-Berg and Andrew Collins joining their classmate Emilie Solomon, all of Portsmouth High School.

Mission: The Rhode Island Center for the Book at the Providence Public Library celebrates the art and heritage of reading, writing, making, and sharing books. The Center promotes a love for books among people of all ages and backgrounds through a variety of programs and activities across Rhode Island.
Vision: The Center envisions a dynamic environment for book culture that connects communities, appreciates imagination and craft and encourages exploration of the written word.
