Welcome to the Rhode Island Center for the Book
at Providence Public Library
- The Rhode Island Center for the Book was established in 2003, and is an affiliate of the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
- The Rhode Island Center for the Book was created to celebrate reading, writing, making and sharing books across Rhode island, and is a cooperative effort of many Rhode Island readers, writers, publishers, librarians, educators and book artists.
- The Providence Public Library was responsible for submitting the original proposal to the Library of Congress, and PPL continues to support and work closely with the Center.

Rhode Island BookLinks - An online guide to the Rhode Island book community
Arts of the Book - An annual event or activity concerned with the artistic or physical aspects of the book, such as printing, binding and illustration. Co-sponsors of the arts of the book lecture series have been the Providence Athenaeum, the John Russell Bartlett Society, the New England chapter of the American Printing History Association, the Friends of the Library at Brown University, the University of Rhode Island, New Leaves Press and Providence Art Club.

Our Mission
The Rhode Island Center for the Book celebrates the art and heritage of reading, writing, making, and sharing books. Through a variety of programs and activities, the Center promotes a love for books among people of all ages and backgrounds across Rhode Island.
