The creative coffeehouse is an open mic forum for acoustic music, a cappella singing, poetry, fiction, and storytelling. All ages and ability levels are encouraged to participate, mingle, and share ideas. Please see our schedule and guidelines below for details.
SCHEDULE
February 11: General Open Mic
No theme -- musicians, vocalists, writers, performers all welcome!
March 11: Irish Event & Open Jam
Special half-hour performance by Celebrating Ireland followed by an Irish Music Jam that is open to the public via sign-ups.
April 8: Poetry Open Mic
Share your original poems or read your favorite poem in honor of National Poetry Month. All ages welcome.
May 13: General Open Mic
No theme -- musicians, vocalists, writers, performers all welcome!
GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPANTS:
--Networking, jamming, socializing, and relaxing are encouraged.
--Each performer/group has 10 minutes to express themselves, setup included.
--We will provide a microphone and stand, but this is an acoustic venue, so no additional amplification is allowed.
--Sign-ups take place from 5:30-6pm via phone on the night of the event (call: 401-455-8057) OR from 6:00-7:00 pm in-person on the night of the event at the signup table. If you don't reach a live person via phone, you must sign up in-person. No advance sign-ups.
-- CDs or books may be sold, but only by the night's performers! The library does not handle any part of selling, making change, etc. and is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
--NOTE: The library is free and open to the public, and our coffeehouses will take place in an open atrium area. As such, performances and readings must be appropriate for all ages. If you are unsure about your material, please ask our host during signups. The library reserves the right to be the sole arbiter of whether a performance adheres to our guidelines and to refuse or truncate any performance for noncompliance. We also strictly adhere to program start and ending times.
