Letters About Literature
RI schoolchildren write letters to their favorite author
A national reading-writing contest for children in grades 4 through 12, sponsored by the Library of Congress Center for the Book and the Rhode Island Center for the Book, in partnership with Target Stores. For more information, as well as guidelines and a Teacher's Guide, click here. This year's deadline for submission is December 8, 2006.

Arts of the Book
Events focused on the arts of the book, offered in partnership with other organizations
Co-sponsors of the arts of the book lecture series have been the Providence Athenaeum, the John Russell Bartlett Society, the New England chapter of the American Printing History Association, the Friends of the Library at Brown University, the University of Rhode Island and New Leaves Press. The 2007 lecture series will focus on paper making. Details are upcoming.
